Project: Show Gardens
Skills: Landscape Design, Garden Design, Planting, Water
The shows give a designer the opportunity to produce gardens that are innovative and can reflect or create new trends, they can also illustrate how beautiful and stunning gardens can be constructed within a confined space.
The gardens are very carefully planned many months in advance to ensure that all plants are in bloom, materials, sculptures, and water elements are ready, and the build is completed on time for the judging. Planting is a real challenge; large shrubs and trees need to be carefully delivered and installed into the very congested show grounds. To look natural and well established, sometimes up to ten times the normal number of perennials are required to give an illusion of a lush carpet of flowers and greenery that appears to have been there forever.
